Help sync calendar?

Can someone please dumb down instructions on how I can sync calendars between my devices?

iPad 2 and 3, 4s, and iMac with SL.

I've searched and tried follow directions and I still can't figure out how to do this.

enable icloud?
it should automatically update as long as u set to show icloud calendars on all devices.
