Help syncing 2nd Google calendar as read only?

I have my primary Google calendar set up on my iPhone, 2way syncing - no problem. My question is this....I have another Google calendar I set up for me and my ex to manage the kids' schedules. I would like to pull this down to my phone, perhaps add events from the phone - but that is optional....but the tricky part is that I don't want my phone to sync back my primary calendar to the kids', aka - the one the ex sees. Surely there's a way to do this with people syncing work calendars and personal calendars, yes?
