help!?! this is weird!

Every couple of seconds my macbook "freezes" and if I press any key or click on anything, it won't do anything, then all of a sudden SPIKE and whatever i press/click works. Also, when that happens, my speakers make a weird ticking noise. Please help!!

Have you installed any updates lately? Apparently the last safari update has caused some problems to peoples computers but i wouldn't know because i use firefox and dont need those updates.

ummm, the last update was maybe 4-5 days ago. It was doing it before the updates though, so I don't know.
