Help! Time Machine troubles backing up more than 4TB

I recently changed my data configuration in my Mac Pro. I replaced a 2TB with a 4TB and now have 13TB. I moved a couple key folders around and am now ready for a fresh new backup, having reformatted my old backup drive. I excluded almost 1TB of stuff using the "Options" button in Time Machine Preferences. But how come TM doesn't recognize this and wants to back it up anyway? It says 4.62TB required, only 4TB available. BUT my prefs clearly lists lots of "excluded" items and says estimated backup 3.78TB. What do I do, I can't get a 5TB drive and need to back this stuff ASAP as I do not currently have a backup right now until this is fixed. Thank you!

I figured out a workaround, basically I took out one of my hard drives so time machine thinks its backing up 2 instead of 3, which brought the combined capacity far below 4TB, and also triggered the exclude items command ... I have yet to see how it all works out when its finished after I add the 3rd hard drive into the mix.
