Hi! So my brother have to send his iPhone 4 in to apple , and it's jailbroken. Will every trace of the jailbreak be gone if he wipes it from the settings on the phone? (Can't remember what the setting said, but I think its the one that deletes everything, so he have to update after doing the wipe.)

So he should just plug it into iTunes and hit restore? Like it's described in the sticky "How to restore" thread? :)
Also, will this work when a new firmware is released? Doesn't iTunes throw an error in your face if you try to restore with an old firmware on the phone?
