I have a file titled “VIDEO TS.part1.exe” on a dvd. The file size is approx 600mb.

How can I view this video?

I’ve tried copying to the desktop and renaming the extension to a VOB or Avi file to view with VLC but doesn’t work.

My guess is it wasn’t correctly saved on cd about a decade ago.

Any help would be so much appreciated. Thank you

If it’s a .exe (executable) file then you won’t be able so if changing the extension didn’t work then it didn’t save properly. You’ll have to do more research or digging into the file info, if possible, or else it’s lost.

Could be a self extracting file, so unzip command line might extract the files. Or a program like Unarchiver (MacOS App Store).

If files get extracted, will need to dig around to see what's what.

But as mentioned, changing the extension will not do anything.

Oh, kids today! Those with Experience with Microsoft Dos Will remember that a Dos EXE file is an executable. At only 600 MB, it seems pretty small to be any part of a video file unless it was at really low resolution. My Spidey sense says that it’s more likely to be a virus pretending to be part of a video. At any event, you can’t execute that kind of file on a Mac, at least not easily. My advice is to steer clear of this file.
