Hi everyone. If this is not the right forum, please forward it or tell me which one to post on. I have tried another site but no help, no replies
I am a computer tech but also I repair iPhone's, iPad's and iPod Touch's. I've been doing the iPhone's and iPad's for awhile, screen/digitizer replacements, wifi flex cables, among other things...I've recently gotten into repairing iPod Touch devices because I used to get so many inquiries. I am capable of repairing these things, not a problem but anyone will tell you that they are NOT repair friendly. A replacement battery is not a big deal and neither is a screen replacement until you go to connect the cable underneath (the hardest part). Anyway, I recently installed a new battery and a new digitizer/display assembly for someone for an iPod Touch 4G.
Problem: Home button and Sleep/on/off button is not working. I can't figure it out. I replaced the mid plate with a known working one which contains a different (working) home button assembly (both ipods were the same: 4th generation) although one was an 8GB and another was a 32GB. It's still not working. This is the only device it can be, since the button is *just* a button..no cables or connections there anywhere. The actual connection/button is on the mid plate. With the Sleep/on/off button...I don't get that because from my understanding, the Sleep button and the up and down Volume controls are on the same ribbon cable. Usually if one doesn't work, the other one doesn't and the cable needs to be replaced. However, the up and down volume controls work fine. What can I do to get the home and sleep button working? Thanks..
