Last week I ran the software update on my iPhone 4S from iOS 7.1.1 to iOS 7.1.2. My phone has never been Jailbroken. I am an idiot and have not been backing up my photos. During the software update, my phone entered recovery mode. I have tried everything I can think of to avoid restoring and losing my photos:
1. Exiting Recovery Mode
2. Recovering Data while in Recovery Mode
3. Entering DFU Mode from Recovery Mode
I've tried a million combinations of power/home button with a million variations on the amount of time I hold them. I've downloaded tons of software people claim will work (most of it is probably spyware or malware or something): blackra1n, evasi0n7, fixrecovery, iFaith, PhoneView, redsn0w, Dr.Fone Wondershare, iFun Box, iREB, iSkySoft, Leawo, MobiSaver, recboot, ReiBoot, TinyUmbrella... and a ton more that I already deleted.
I seem to be making progress with iRecovery. Most of the other applications don't even see that my phone is connected. With iRecovery, I have finally been able to connect and recognize my phone.
I've tried everything I can find for iRecovery (and I've tried each one three times in a row as I've read some times it doesn't always work the first or second time around):
setenv auto-boot true
saveenv
/exit
(manually reboot the phone)
setenv auto-boot true
saveenv
reboot
setenv auto-boot true
saveenv
fsboot
printenv
setenv auto-boot true
saveenv
reboot
...nothing is working!
Here is what I get in iRecovery after -s:
