Hi everyone, I’m having some problems after upgrading my phone.

I'm on ios15 on my phone now, and Monterey on my mac. I use a gmail e-mail address.

I want to not have to use icloud and have contacts locally on both my mac and iphone, and synch these with lightning cable when needed.

The only reason i have icloud enabled is to be able to use find my iphone. Now when I log of icloud on my phone all my contacts disappear. This is not how it was before I upgraded,

How do I get my contacts out of the cloud and back locally to my machine?

Any help appreciated. Thanks so much

Go to Settings
Tap your name at the top
Tap iCloud
Turn off toggle for Contacts

You’ll be asked whether you want to keep them on the phone.

They’ll still also remain (encrypted) on iCloud for you to access again in the future if you want. Apple can’t read your contact info. It’s encrypted on iCloud.
