Hi All,

I'm really REALLY struggling with this and I'm really hoping somebody somewhere can help me...

I had my Macbook Pro on this morning and everything was fine, could listen to music, watch stuff on youtube etc...Went out and came back this afternoon and got an update for Itunes...I think it was only Itunes...unfortunately I never really pay much attention to these things, I've been so impressed with Apple and being a new Mac user that I have no reason to be suspicious/cynical of updates.

After the update had completed, and my Mac restarted, I went to get to work only for the screen to be frozen, I restarted several times and the same thing happened. Until I left it for a few minutes and then I could open applications and have some kind of basic functions, however, the volume buttons F10, F11, F12 did not work and also F5 and F4, the key board brightness...BUT after a few more restarts the key board brightness buttons are strangely, back in business. But I've had NO luck with the volume.

I've reset the PRAM and NVRAM...I've pulled this system preference file "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" onto the desktop which was suggested on another site...

When I hit the volume keys, the attached picture appears - its soul destroying!

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm at the end of my tether! And I want to listen to music real bad!

Kind Regards,

Billy

p.s. Bit of a newbie to my Mac so any help would be greatly appreciated...
