So much detail so here it is:

MBP Core 2 Duo 2.8 15" 4Gig RAM

Videos:
Pulled from TV via Hauppauge 1212 PVR to EyeTV 3.x
Exported from EyeTV as uncompressed H.264 (kept for long term raw video) 1080i
Use MPEG Streamclip and convert to the following so usable with FCEx (see image) (btw - this is taking a long time to convert, lol - weeks).

The conversions make the files approx 3.5x the original size. Starts about 120 GIG - end size approx 400 GiG.

So my challenge is two-fold.

1 - i have had some alerts in FCEx saying my hardware setup can't handle the requirements to edit the video.
2 - External Storage! - currently don't have the storage to handle doing anything with it as my 750 GIG USB 2.0 and 2.5inch 500 GIG 5200rpm FW800 drives are to close too full with other stuff.

A - What kind of storage might be good (FW800 is the fastest i can use with the MBP)?

B - will any type of FW 800 solution be fast enuf to handle this type of video (see image)?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.
