I am finally ditching Outlook and MS office for Thunderbird (contacts and mail merge), gmail, and Open office(all docs).
(yes, I still have a regular pc. baby steps)

I am also going to be getting an Iphone this month.

I need to be able to have gmail push and pull on my iphone.
I need to have Thunderbird give and get my calendar for doctors appts etc from my pc.
I need to have Thunderbird give and get my address contacts from my pc.

Is this possible?

What apps will I need to download to my phone?

Gmail says that I need MS exchange to sync with the Iphone. Is that the best?

What will I need to allow Thunderbird to push and pull my calendar on the iphone to my pc?

Also, the outage described here about gmail has me a bit worried. but worse case is that I just access it via the web on my phone.

My biggest concern is the calendar off thunderbird. I have a dd with medical problems. Lots of doc appts. that I tend to forget if not synced.

Thanks in advance
