Before you ask, I searched the forums (no matches), I searched Google (no relevant information), and I searched my favorite resource for this sort of information (no matches).

Every once in a while, I encounter files on the Internet with an extension of mpega. I can't play these at all. Does anyone know what these files are?

Have you got any examples? And sorry if this comes across as a little condescending, but could it be a typo?
The only one I know of right off the top of my head is on VGMix somewhere...it's one of the songs there. Unfortunately, I can't remember which one it is.

From what I've just read it seems to be a an mpeg file for Amigas - specifically 68k series machines. There seem to be a number of players that will let you listen to it but how you get it onto iTunes I've no idea - Wiretap maybe?
Actually this is supposed to play mpega files but it's PC only - their FAQ suggests using Audio Hijack
