i have an avi video file which i extracted from my camera...

the color is perfect as it is...

i want to edit it so i import it into imovie...i do simple cutting and pasting edits, no color changes no contrast changes, etc. but when i try to export the movie after the edits no matter what file i import it as (mov, avi, etc.) the color most always changes and looks way darker than the original.

why is this???

any tips on how to avoid this color change?

What are you exporting as? If it's quicktime, you might be experiencing this:

Also make sure you have your monitor calibrated correctly ( instructions in the middle of this article: http://www.macworld.com/article/45798/2005/07/augustdigitalphoto.html ) don't forget to turn on Expert mode.
