iPhone 11 Pro Help! Why is maps using so many GB?

Why in the hell is my maps taking up so much of my storage? I’ve updated my OS and deleted and re-downloaded the app. Is there a way to clear it out? My husband uses his all the time but it’s only a few hundred MB. I delete maps apps and then all of a sudden I have 20+GB in my other area under the system usage. WTF 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I have no explanation. On my phone it’s just a few MB for the data. Maybe a system problem or an issue of the app itself caused it to consume that much.

Are you maybe using the satellite view a lot?

Deleting the app should rid you of that data though.

If you're running iOS 13.6 or older, update iOS. iOS 13.6.1 contained a fix for the "Other" problem (this is not specific to Maps - many apps generate "Other" data).

Same problem here as the original poster. Maps is taking 23 GB storage, and deleting the app does not change the total storage taken on the device
