Is there some setting I need to change? Siri used to be able to do this, but now she just suggests some websites!
Any troubleshooting suggestions? iPhone 14 on the latest iOS version...

try „ hey siri, tell me what 10 dollars is in euro“. works?
Yep, when I say those exact words she still just gives me those currency exchange websites!
It also doesn't work on my work phone, an SE, which is on a different Apple account.
Very strange!

Indeed strange… I tried this on an SE and several other iPhones and iPads - all on 18.4 beta 3 and ”hey siri, tell me…” works all the time. ”hey siri, convert…” reliable points to websites.

Okay I have got it to work!!

I need to say “Hey siri, CONVERT 20 US dollars to British pounds” and then she will do it. Any other wording causes her to just refer me to websites.

Strange or what?!

Stupid beyond words. Siri is an unmitigated failure. Year after year after year with no improvement whatsoever. Tim Cook should be FIRED immediately for screwing up AI so bad.

Siri using an LLM will always be a step behind the competition playing fast and loose with your data.

Personally I don't want any software that's prone to simple prompt injection backed into the OS on my Phone.

I have Apple Intelligence on my iPhone 15 Pro so this may differ w/ regular Siri, when I usually convert USD to GBP I always ask, "Hey Siri convert X dollars to pounds", and it give it to me in quid right away with an option to copy result.

Can you give it a try?

I just tried asking siri to convert x dollars to pounds and it worked... your right. Very strange. When I ask siri 'whats x dollars in pounds' it gives me a list of links

Did you do this on an iPhone with Apple intelligence or regular Siri? Yep that’s why y’all without Apple intelligence Siri isn’t as flexible in understanding certain commands.
