Help! Widgets disappeared!

So, my widgets are gone. Out of the blue, they just stopped working. When I do F12, the screen turns dark but no widgets come up. When I try to access the widget manager, it pops up but disappears before any widget list comes up. If I click on a widget from the widget dock it also disappears just after popping up.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I would hate to have to reinstall Tiger just to get my widget working again. Thanks.

I doubt a reinstall will be necessary. As a start, find a file named com.apple.dashboard.plist in your Preferences folder and drag it to the Desktop before restarting the Mac.

Just out of interest, what changes have you made to your system recently that may have caused this (albeit accidentally)?
