Reader Comments: PowerBook G4 (Ti) 667MHz running 10.4.11. (Note - no native 48bit addressing/big drive support on the Ti PB's - so drive capacity limited to appx 128GB (binary)/137GB (decimal). Later Alum PB's have big drive support.-Mike)
The original IBM TravelStar 30 GB drive would no longer mount. Having found your site, I decided to get a Seagate 160 GB ST9160821A-RK drive. The install was no problem. I used the PowerBook G4 Titanium 550/667 Repair Guide that I downloaded free from PowerBook Medic.com. It has great pictures and instructions.
I did a clean install of Tiger with no problems. Now running 10.4.11 without incident. The only problem I had was that the maximum size of the drive that was recognized was 137 GB instead of 160 GB. So, apparently this model of PowerBook G4 is incapable of recognizing the larger drive.

Mike Comments: Intecusa (makers of speedtools) has a large drive support ATA driver to address this but it's not 10.5 compatible (to date). And I didn't care for that workaround personally as when booted from CD or another drive (that does not have their driver installed) - support is missing which is why they recommend "safe partitioning" (i.e. partition the drive so that the first/boot partition is within the 137GB limits)
That's 10.16 mm tall.the dimensions are 0.4" Height x 2.8" Width x 3.9" Depth its not going to fit right?![]()
