Hi, long time lurker here but this is actually my first post.

I have been waiting months for this update to finally buy a 27" riMac. Now I'm struggling to choose the configuration, so I hope you may have some suggestions for me.

I am a software developer, so of course it would be great if the machine is suited for that purpose. However I have my own work laptop and I do not plan on working on the iMac, at least not for the foreseeable future. I want the iMac as a replacement for my 13" late-2011 MacBook Pro, so I'd be using it for normal daily use (web browsing, occasional photo editing), plus some light gaming (mainly Cities: Skylines). Budget is not a big issue. I want something that will last me 4-5years but at the same time I don't want to overly spend my money on something I will never need.

So, on to the configuration. I'm fairly certain I want the 3.3GHz version but can't decide on the upgrades.
  • RAM can be upgraded by myself so that's out of the question.
  • CPU I was thinking to leave the i5-6600 that comes by default. It's 280€ (student discount in Finnish store) to upgrade to the i7. Do you think is it worth upgrading? Will it make much of an impact on the tasks I plan to use this for?
  • GPU I thought I would upgrade to the M395X, since 2GB seems not very futureproof specially considering the 5k display. But maybe I'm wrong and the default one is enough?
  • Storage I thought I'd leave the default 2TB Fusion Drive. I was considering the 3TB version but it's 112€ extra which seems like a lot. The 256GB SSD seems too small and the 512GB a bit too expensive maybe?
I think that's it, hopefully you guys can help me decide cause I'm very unsure all day messing with the configuration.

Thanks a lot!
