I'm trying to setup a dialup modem on my Macbook. I have a very old 3rd party USB modem with no accompanying software. I can see that the USB modem is attached to the system, by looking at the USB tree in system profiler. So when I attempted to configure a dialup connection through Internet Connect application, the radio button for dial up modem is grayed out. I expected that the dial up modem driver will already be preinstalled in Tiger even though no hardware is built onto the Macbook.

In XP with the same old USB modem, I attach it and XP recognizes it and
assign the appropriate drivers. I would have expected OS X to do this too.
