Hi, am after a bit of advice, I want to get a top end high quality monitor this year. I will be using it with my 14” M3 Max MacBook Pro, and my works Dell Latitude 5420 laptop running Windows 11. The work I do uses word, Acrobat, Outlook, Chrome and SAP which is a programme that uses windows and text in boxes.
So my work is based around using windows that once setup as I like I don’t tend to move around although I do switch between the windows all the time. But I want a good high quality monitor for this use and then my Mac use also which can be anything.

So I’ve come up with some thoughts, I need a 32” monitor as my current one is 28”, and I cannot fit dual 27” ones sadly, or a big ultra wide and I want a bigger monitor.
Ideally I want a flat screen. I also really want dual USB C inputs, with one being Thunderbolt for the Mac but I guess not essential.

I have come up with the MSI 32” OLED gaming monitor (this is an update to last years model): MPG 322URX. http://www.msi.com/Monitor/MPG-322URX-QD-OLED

The about to be released Asus Pro Art PA32UCDM https://www.asus.com/displays-desktops/monitors/proart/proart-display-oled-pa32ucdm/ But I had rad it has a fan in it so nit sure about that.

And because of the risk of OLED burn in I’ve thought of these monitors also: This is curved though and it seems a bit older in its ports?

Samsung 32” Mini LED: http://www.samsung.com/uk/monitors/...-inch-240hz-1ms-curved-uhd-4k-ls32bg850npxxu/

And the up coming new LG Ultrafine 6K screen: http://www.ces.tech/ces-innovation-awards/2025/lg-ultrafine-6k-monitor-model-32u990a/

My current monitor is a 4K LCD and I can easily use it and read the text on it for work. I have dismissed other monitors as I do not like their styling such as Asus gaming monitors.
I am concerned if I get an OLED even one of the 2 I have suggested that I will get burn in after some time if static images are being shown even if I am switching between windows all the time, is that a genuine concern?

Looking at it, to me it seems the new LG Ultrafine is the only one that will fit the bill, because it’s is top level image quality, not an OLED so no burn in, will match the Mac perfectly for upscaling, and it looks very nice design wise, am I right here?

I can’t afford the 5K layout for the Pro XDR display and the Studio display is too small at 27”.

Any monitors I am missing? I looked at the 32 Acer Predator mini LED gaming monitor but it doesn’t seem to be available to buy new in the UK.

So far the LG is wining for me. But any suggestions are welcome. Is an OLED monitor really a stupid idea for text based work with windowed programmes even if I switch between them?

I have looked into this further and am now planning to change my setup. I’ll get arms for the laptops, new lamp etc.

So I have also narrowed down the monitors. I won’t get an OLED as it’s pointless, it’ll have burn in after a year or 2.

I am VERY keen on the new LG, because it is 6K, but we have very little information about it currently.

I have also thought of the following:

The new Dell 32” UltraSharp: https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/del...5qe/apd/210-bqtk/monitors-monitor-accessories

Has anyone had any experience with a Dell UltraSharp monitor? Are they any good?

The new BenQ PD3226G https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/professional/pd3226g.html

And the BenQ gaming monitor as it has a Mini LED screen: https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/gaming/ex321ux.html

Is a high quality IPS panel better then a Mini LED panel for text work? Or is the resolution of a 6K monitor more important? Also what do people think the price of LG’s new monitor will be? 2K or more?

I went through this - got so sick of looking at so many monitor options that I got frustrated and just ordered the Studio Display in the end! lol

lol, sadly it's not really an option for me as I want a 32" screen and I can't afford the Pro Display XDR. It's pretty rare second hand even. I also need to use the works Windows laptop with it.

I owned the first generation of that MSI QD-OLED, have owned lots of ultrasharps, and run both a Mac and windows laptop.

Unless you're gaming, the clear choice here is the Dell Ultrasharp 32" that just came out. 120hz, thunderbolt dock built in, great brightness and no worry about burn in. Text is sharper on IPS, though OLED is getting closer. I had IPS and QD-OLED side by side, and the IPS is still nicer to work on for now.

The 6k LG Monitor will probably also be great, but I would be shocked if it's less than $2,000 given the specs, rarity and thunderbolt 5 connectivity.

Small edit: If you were doing any gaming, nothing beats a good HDR QD-OLED, so that would factor in. I didn't address that in my comments above.

Don't forget to factor the DPI. I personally like "Retnia"-quality (>200dpi) to be able to scale things to whatever size I want. For a 32" monitor, that really means 6K. I'm patiently waiting for LG 6K -- hoping it will be as good as my old 5K LG...

Thanks for the reply, I am going to wait for the LG I think, I am in the UK so it could be 2 grand for us which would be 2500 dollars. I have got my accessory’s now, my new lamp, a desk tidy riser, new desk mat, just need the *laptop arms and then save for the monitor. I really love the look of the LG.
Thank you for the info on IPS panels still being the best to work on. Really appreciate that info.

That's a great call if budget allows. I had the XDR for about a year as well, and 32" 6k was awesome. If the LG is even in the ballpark, you'll love it.

I'm looking forward to seeing a 27" 4K OLED monitor in-person at some point. Really tempted. Will see.

They should be good, their have been a load of them released this year or are coming this year, 27” is flavour of the month it seems.
