Hello, Ages ago I found an old power macintosh g3 at the local tip. I managed to get it and brought it home. It was complete and undamaged. I replace the Pram? battery and the thing fired up and all seemed to work.
It was the First time I had ever used an Apple product except for an Apple IIE ( I think it was). So the Apple world was a new experiance.
Anyway the old G3 has sat for a few years. When I booted it up the hard disk had failed. Not much of an issue since I have several ide replacement drives and could install another Apple operating system
The main problem is that the pc no longer seems to see the keyboard. Its an M3501 and DID work at some point. The mouse still moves around the screen. This also did work fine at some point.
I purchased another keyboard, M3501 and it make no difference. When connected to the machine the caps lock/num lock lights flash but there is no further life from either keyboard.
With the failed hard disk the machine puts a Folder Icon in the middle of the screen. I can move the mouse about but there is no response from either keyboard.
So, is this a mother board fault or 2 duff keyboards. Its a good example of a PowerPc g3, so worth a bit of effort to sort out.
Any advice would be welcome. These old machines are more or less useless in the modern world but still have value.
Thanks
