Help with a video quandry

Hello,

I am a brand-newbie to the Mac world. I Just purchased a new iMac on Monday. I need to know what is available to help me get my video from a Sony Handycam DCR DVD301 into my Mac for editing. Is the Pyro A/V link that I see at www.adstech.com the answer? I am still learning my way around this new reality for my computer life!!

according to the product description on amazon, it can connect to your compuer via USB.

Have you tried plugging it into your Mac, opening iMovie, and importing it?

When I connect the camera & open iMovie, it is showing .VOB files and does not open them. Any suggestions?
The camera has a USB port out, no firewire

You can use Diva to convert the .vob to mp2 format
