Hi there
New poster, long time lurker.
I currently am in the process of turning two mac minis into "one". For context, I work in a theater. One of the macs is running the light desk, the other one controls projection (will be used with QLab, Syphon and a media server of some sort). To make it easy enough to use for everyone, I want to consolidate the control of the macs from one screen since it means less clutter at FOH.
So far, I've gotten the macs to communicate, and the projection mac shares its desktop with the light desk mac. Both are controlled via a touchscreen, which works fine. I also have set up Synergy in a test phase to get mouse and keyboard data, but that might not be necessary with a vnc connection? I have a virtual desktop for the light desk software, and one for the vnc-connection, so the basis of the concept is covered.
Now what I want to do is to start up the vnc sharing and connection automatically when the macs power up (waiting for a rack which powers both on at the same time). I haven't found a solution on how to do that yet, so if anyone have any tips on how to achieve that I would appreciate it. I'm not afraid of the terminal if that is the only way.
The other part could be a bit more tricky. Since I'm going to output video only to a projector, I need the vnc to connect to a set virtual desktop, and the projector to the other, as I don't want the projection software to be on the projection screen (obviously). As far as I've understood, Qlab should be able to output to a set workspace, so it is more an order of configuring the vnc.
Any insights in this matter will be appreciated greatly.
