I have an Airport Extreme that sits right next to my iMac that I speed test and get the full 20mbs as advertised

I have an Express in the living room for music as well as one in my bedroom.

Here's a diagram of the setup:

Anyway, In my bedroom I use my iPad and the speed test shows like 2.5mbs DL and 4.0 upload. As I move close to the Extreme the numbers go up but only by about double.

What is my best configuration for the expresses?
I have them both on "extend network" but I'm not sure that is optimal.

Thanks a million

Here's a diagram of the setup:

Try introducing one element at a time.

Remove both expresses. What signal do you get where you want to put the Expresses? (That'll set what they will be able to extend).

Can you move the Extreme closer to where the Expresses go?

Can you put at least one Express in the 100 ft between the current locations?

What is in that 100 ft. Walls, bathrooms, closets, ...

Good idea!

I turned all expresses off and got 12 mbps all the way across the house, so that's way better!

There are about 2-3 walls the extreme has to get through to get to either express.

You think I should "extend network" on the furthest one, or the nearest?
I can't really move any of them.

Maybe I'll just leave em all in "join Network" and live with 10-12 mbps

Thanks
