Hello everyone!

I'm looking for a solution with an external 4 bay enclosure (4x2TB drives) that mirrors the 4 internal ones in my Mac Pro 2010. It would in other terms be 4 separate RAID 1 systems running in parallel.

What hardware would you recommend to achieve this? I would prefer to use eSATA and would hence need a recommendation on a good PCIe controller card.

One additional thought: What would the difference be between setting up a RAID 1 system compared to not having any RAID system at all and letting a software do incremental backups as soon as files are modified or added in the host computer?

I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.
Best,
Erik
