So, I'm trying to install Mac OS 7 into the Basilisk Emulator, but I can't find very clear instructions on how to do that. Or if anyone has a Basilisk disk image with System 7 installed, that's cool too. Thanks.

Okay, I finally had the chance to check out SheepShaver, and it doesn't support System 7.

There's no particular reason why I have to run system 7, it's just that it's my second favorite OS (my first being OS X), and I've been dying to use it again.

I got it running under Mini vMac though, but it doesn't support color. :(

Where did you get that crazy idea? The web site clearly says "SheepShaver runs MacOS 7.5.2 thru MacOS 9.0.4"

I know all about why someone would want to run System 7... I run system7today.com.

Ahh, Basilisk Keeps Crashing!

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I got it. Just having a little trouble booting.

EDIT 2: Voila! It's now functional!

I've found SheepShaver to be very unstable while Basilisk II has worked well for me. I've actually written a guide to installing Mac OS 7.5 on Basilisk II.

It might have something to do with running the ever-crappy 7.5 a an emulated PowerPC system. 7.6 versions are far more stable, and would be more appropriate there.

Both Basilisk and SheepShaver are really unstable, though, and the best solution is to spend $10 and get yourself some nice Power Mac on eBay.

Okay, I think Basilisk hid my desktop folder (it doesn't show up in my user folder, unless I turn on "Show hidden and system files" in TinkerTool. Is there some way to unhide it, because I'm getting a little pissed off here.

I prefer Basilisk II to Sheepshaver. I've found SheepShaver to be very unstable while Basilisk II has worked well for me. I've actually written a guide to installing Mac OS 7.5 on Basilisk II. See here: http://emuscene.com/wiki/index.php/Basilisk_II_Setup_Guide. Hopefully that helps you out.

This link has gone dead, could you repost the tutorial? i am having SERIOUS difficulties gettin basilisk working
