I am in a really strange situation and I cannot install Win on my mac using boot camp.
I replaced my Toshiba 500 GB HDD with a Samsung 840 SSD, and my superdrive with my Toshiba HDD. I placed my superdrive in an external USB housing. I have an lower end early 2011 macbook pro 15
Now when I start bootcamp I create a bootable DVD, I partition using bootcamp everything is fine, but for some reason I cannot boot using an external DVD drive. I get a black screen with a flashing "_".
So I googled around and for some reason Win is refusing to be booted from an external DVD drive even on regular win PCs (except for mac airs).
So I tried to create a bootable USB so I can maybe boot Win using an USB drive. But my version of bootcamp is not allowing me to create a bootable USB, so I download a version of bootcamp that will allow me to create bootable USB, and I create a bootable USB, but my macbook pro will not let me boot from the USB. When I come to the boot screen, the system tells me to insert a bootable device.
Can someone help me with this. Consider that reinstalling my superdrive into the mac is not an option, because I am not all that handy with tools, and I really don't want to pay again to replace it just for installing windows.
P.S sorry for my english and thx for all the help
