Recently my iMac Late 2012 crashed. The iMac can start up but stuck at the loading screen half way. Hence I suspect that the hard disk is corrupted.

I tried every possible start-up modes.

Safe Mode -> Stuck at the loading screen
Recovery Mode -> Stuck at the loading screen
Internet Recovery Mode -> Stuck at the loading screen

I then tried the Mojave bootable usb. And it also seems that the loading is stuck as well. Should I be patient and wait much longer?

Thanks, any help is appreciated because this is driving me nuts. The loading screen doesn't tell me any information at all. Can i start 'Select boot disk' mode in Verbose Mode?

If internet recovery doesn’t work, its not your hard drive. Are you certain you held the correct keys for internet recovery (option-command-R)?

If you really can’t boot to internet recovery, your machine probably needs to go to Apple for repair. The crash probably didn’t cause the failure. The failure probably caused the crash.

Yes, I tried the Internet Recovery as well. There isn't any difference between Internet Recovery and Bootable USB, since the end result should be the same. (to install a clean os onto the drive)

Right now, both my Internet Recovery and Bootable USB loads up but always gets stuck at loading screen and fail to progress any further.

What are the usual times for the installation? I waited for like 4-5 hours and the progress bar hardly progress.

Internet recovery depends on the speed of your internet connection, but 4-5 hours seems like enough time for most places these days. You aren’t on a modem or slow DSL are you?

I'm referring to the bootable usb actually :) And no, I'm not on a slow modem.

Thats why I'm suspecting that my drive is totally gone.

I've also tried the Hardware Test previously and it always comes out with the `cannot load efi/drivers/testsupport.efi`

Looking through the internet, it seems it's a problem faced by many. But of course, this has nothing to do with my bootup issues. I just can't check what hardware went wrong. Thanks alot tho

If the machine won't run Apple Hardware Test, that's another clue. I suspect it's time for a new computer.
