Help with Disk Utility

I have a 4TB WD External Hard Drive. I am trying to spilt it into 5 partitions. 4 of them are to be HFS+ (GUID) and we would like one as exFAT (MBR) for use between Mac and Windows. However, no matter which options I try... the Master Boot Record partition type is always greyed out when i go to create a partition. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
