Help with email URL problems

I recently jailbroke my iPhone 3g with redsn0w_win_0.9.6b6 and everything went smoothly however whenever I try to open a URL from an email the phone goes back to the lock screen. Every once in a while it will also go into 'Safe Mode" and mention something about "mobile substrate not causing the problem", any ideas to fix this.
