Help with Exporting Notes

I love the sync feature where I can export Notes to my Mail. However, what I really do not like, is when I see my Notes when I sign-on to my online email account. I would like to export Notes to my desktop but not to my Mail where it automatically uploads the Notes to my online email account. Does anyone know a quick way to do this? Thanks

IIRC, there is a setting in Mail to show notes in the inbox. Just a simple check box. But, I don't have my iMac at work so I can't double check it.
