Hello,

I have a quick question that probably has a simple answer but I am new to Mac and can't seem to find out. I use my new Macbook Pro hooked up to an external monitor occasionally and sometimes with the macbook in clamshell mode.

When I open the Macbook to use as a dual monitor I can't seem to get the screen back on. I can still use the external monitor but the Macbook screen remains blank no matter what I type on the keyboard or moving the mouse. Is this common and if so what is the fix? It should be noted that my Mac isn't asleep since I am using the external monitor.

Thank you

Its normal. Put the the system to sleep then wake it again with the MacBook open and you will be back to dual monitors. Basically you have to sleep between the changes.
