At work, I am trying to find the best (and cheapest) way to set up dual external monitors for a Macbook Air. Currently I have it working with a Air -> :apple:TBD -> StarTech TB Docking Station -> Acer B276HUL. After trying about 6 different configurations of adaptors, I learned that the TB dock only allows the TB/MDP signal for video if the HDMI is not plugged in. Plugging in both will turn off the video from the monitor plugged into the second TB port. With this dock I have the option of outputting to 1080p using HDMI/DVI adapters or a MDP -> DP cord for the full 2560x1440. The full resolution is preferable, and for some reason Apple's adapters only seem to push 1080p.

The monitors I'd like to use are both Acer B276HUL. Resolution is the same as the Thunderbolt Display (2560x1440). They have HDMI, DVI, and DP inputs, as well as a DP output. But the Air doesn't support DP1.2 and can't chain the monitors without mirroring them.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove the TBD from the equation and add in the second Acer 27"? Or am I stuck using this setup?

I have found three possible options so far, but don't know that any are optimal, and was hoping that you guys would have something better.

MDP -> 3xDP
MDP -> DP -> 2xDVI (as wide desktop)
USB3 -> DP

I don't know that any of these options would even work, let alone perform well. I'm more than happy to hear any suggestions you can provide. Thanks for your help :D
