help with facetime

is it possible to use facetime with the same apple id on 2 different devices. for example, could i log onto facetime on my son's ipod with my apple id (he doesn't have one) and then call his ipod from my macbook? I'm trying figure out if this is possible as I don't want to set up an email/apple id for him just yet.
