Help with google sync

I want to set up my iphone as new, but before I do a while ago I started setting up google sync, and iam not sure if I completed the process correctly as ive still got duplicates contacts on my iPhone.

Can anyone let me know, how I can remove the second copy of contacts from my iPhone? I would then like to backup these contacts in google for future use if needs be.
