I have an 2008 unibody with a seagate 500gb momentus Hardrive in it already. I think its going bad because when apple ran a diagnostic there was a yellow yield sign. I am going to upgrade and get an optibay to replace super drive. I am confuse on the route I should go. Here are my options. any help is appreciated.

1st option
samsung 256gb ssd + 750gb wd scorpio black hd.

2nd option= more room, cost lest.
momentus xt 500gb sdd + 750gb wd scorpio black hd.

honestly, I would go with the 256 ssd + whatever, for storage. The OS and apps are all that need to go on the ssd for performance. You'd have to try rather hard to get that to exceed 256 within the forseeable future. The additional drive is just for storage of docs, pix and tunes - all of which will be plenty snappy without sitting on ssd themselves.

So I decided to go with the second option. I wanted to purchase a Samsung 830 but that is sata III. My 2008 unibody wouldn't support it right???

Finally got around to doing it...so easy to do but ran into to many stupid problems to get it done. Wish i've done this faster.

I recommend everyone do this. Machine is so much faster.
