I'm using iMovie '09, and recording our weekly church services to an external harddrive as individual events. Without going into too much detail, this week that harddrive was disconnected from the computer before I stopped the recording. From what I can tell, that means the data wasn't written anywhere, since it never got to the 'processing' stage of the event.

My questions:

Where does iMovie keep that data before it 'processes' it? I haven't seen memory use or disk space effected while recording, but I haven't really paid very close attention either.

Is the data still possibly somewhere/recoverable?

If yes, how can I trick iMovie into importing it?

If no, is there something I could have done/can do in the future to prevent this from happening again (other than importing to my harddrive directly)?

Thanks so much ahead of time for your help!
