I have a jailbrokend unlocked iPhone3G. iOS 3.1 something. It had springboard loaded onto it, and once in a fortnight or so I would see the phone 'freeing memory', and then revert to the home screen. No problems as such.
Over the past month, the 'freeing memory' thing became more frequest, every alternate day, then every day, and then more than twice a day. Last weekend the 'freeing memory' kept on hapenning once an hour. Then I saw the home screen remain on (no auto off) for a long time. Then the phone started rebooting itself.
Now, when the phone is on, it comes to the home screen and gets stuck. Touch does not work. If I call from another phone, I can hear the rings, but the phone does not ring or emit any sound. Even toggling the silent buttons does not evoke any response. After about 5 - 10 mins in this stuck state, it reboots, and goes back to stuck. Only way I can switch it off is using both home and power buttons. I tried to connect to itunes switching it off and on and connecting holding the home button, itunes recognises this as a new phone. However, I cannot restore the phone as it reboots in 5 mins, not allowing itunes time to restore.
Can anyone help me?
