hello.
i installed Ircle 3.1.2, os x on my new macbook.
but i cant connect to the server, im getting this in the console:

Looking up IP number for irc.undernet.org
Found IP number: 69.17.172.40
Contacting server irc.undernet.org
Could not establish a connection with irc.undernet.org (Connection refused)
Connection with irc.undernet.org closed

i dont know if its a firewall problem caz im running a network wireless conection in my university..

Thanks

It is (99%) a firewall. This is because a huge number of trojans connect to IRC in the background to gather/spread info, and to get commends. (Lucky you have a mac: :)

www.silenceisdefeat.org offers free shells that are reliable and good for BitchX use. That's the only way I go when I wanna get on IRC.

If its a firewall problem, what should i do??
is there a way to solve the problem?

thanks

Universities always have their networks locked down pretty tight. You could try using an alternate port (6666 - 6669)by:

/server irc.total.net:6666

Try that... but I doubt it'll work. Your best bet is SSHing to a shell and using BitchX.

I pay for simple 1 background process shell ($2 a month) that runs a program called psybnc. Keeps you online all the time and I can use a regular irc client to connect to it. If your interested PM me and I'll be happy to give you the company I go with for irc shells.
