how can I make an mp3 audio file into an m4r file if I didn't purchase the song from iTunes

pretty much I'm asking if its possible to create ringtones for my iPhone from clipping songs in garageband

google and find it on you tube real easy and simple to do
start in itunes click on song make acc file for 30 sec i suggest to increase the sound to 100% then drag it to desk top change file name to mp3r then drag into ringtones then go back an delete 30 sec song from itune library hope this helps
