Help with Messenger for Mac 7 does not wort :(

I just got a MBP I am pretty new to Mac and I also got with it the Office 2008, but It looks like they have a new version of the messenger and the thing is that I was trying to install it and it doesn't work is giving me this error...

You cannot install Office 2008 SP1 Update (12.1.0) on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume.

What does that mean because I know I have an older version of the messenger and I would like to know if I have to uninstall the older version or what and how I do it please help help S.O.S...

What version of MSN Messenger do you have?

You can have the version of MSN messenger that comes with office 2008 installed alongside the previous version with no problems.

Are you trying to install Office 2008 update or Messenger? IIRC they are different installs.
