help with new iMac

Hey i know there was some sort of pdf file floating around awhile ago showing how to take apart the new iMac i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get my hands on it (my search engine skills seem a bit rusty).

also i was wondering if anyone out there has taken apart their new iMac yet and if anyone knew how difficult it might be to switch hard drives or replace the factory installed ram. also is the graphics card upgradable at all or is it basically part of the motherboard?

ive taken apart various powerbooks before and built peecees so im not completely inept, but im not willing to risk completely screwing things up. and i dont care about the warranty since apple "care" has always been completely useless for me in fixing anything (and i have a friend at apple who can help if anything goes wrong) so you dont need to remind me about voiding the warranty (besides how would apple ever know i opened things up?)

any help/links/tutorials/personal experiences would be wonderful! :)
 
the graphics chip is embedded, so you'll probably find that rather difficult to change ;)

I wouldn't mind a copy of that tutorial either. My mum's going to get herself a new iMac in the next month or two, and i'd rather like to have a play around inside it :D
 
thanks irmongoose. mostly iminterested in upgrading the ram and hard drive. i noticed that the hard drive is ata66 can we install ata100 drives?

also i knew for awhile that the memory was 133 not 100 even though the bus is listed as 100, but apple actually amkes quite a point of the need for 133 not 100. an apple specialist i spoke to told me this is because the bus is actually running at 133mhz, but apple has listed it as 100 to differentiate it from the powermac. if the bus is 133 then the only thing holdingb it back is the cache. anyone seen any bench marks? i wonder when barefeets will get its act together and compare the 800 imac to the 800 powermac.

um.. i don't know about the ata100 drives... haven't tried replacing the hard drive just yet.



i thought barefeats already did compare the two... check their site carefully, they should be having it.
