I have a spare original iPhone and I wanted to give it someone to use as a iPod touch. For some reason no matter how much I restore it all I see is the connect to iTunes screen.

I do not have the original SIM that was in the device, that is now in a 3G device that was passed on to another person. The old SIM from the 3G is now in the 2G device.

Is there any way to get the iPod functionality back on the original iPhone? I tried looking at Apple's site, but they didn't offer up much help since they said you needed the original SIM which I do not have access to anymore.

I figured the good folks on the iPhone hacks board might be able to help me out here.

Thanks!

You can hackivate it using PwnageTool.

Thank you very much!

I assume she will just select setup as a new phone since her iTunes has never seen a iPhone. I did pwnage on my mbp, she has a window desktop.

Thanks again, the pineapple logo got a few chuckles
