I installed a couple of programs into Windows in Parallels, and they won't run. When I first start Parallels, I get:

Please check your configuration!

Floppy image file /Users/user1/Documents/Parallels/Microsoft Windows XP/unattended.fdd could not be found.

Do you want to continue anyway?

When I try to start the programs I installed, I get the error message:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) Click on OK to terminate the application.

I installed Parallels Tools and that didn't help. The Windows XP I used had SP2 on it, I obtained it through the MSDNAA for school, so it is a burned iso image. Also, I tried to install Ubuntu in Parallels, and it hangs at halfway through the install.

Just do what it says, go to the VM configuration and fix it so that it isn't trying to use a floppy disk image that doesn't exist. The error itself is harmless though, you don't need unattended.fdd after Windows is installed.

You're probably getting that error message because you are trying to run a program that depends on the .NET Framework, and the .NET Framework is either not installed or needs to be reinstalled.

There are some instructions for installing Ubuntu Linux 6.0.6 Server in the "Parallels Desktop for Mac User Guide.pdf" file located in the same directory as Parallels Desktop. The default install for Ubuntu will not work.

Nevermind. I installed VMWare Fusion and it works great. It's also a lot faster than Parallels.

I think you just had lost money when you switched to VM Ware Fusion.. Your Parallels' issue is not so serious, I suppose, and Fusion is not much faster than Parallels as many benchmarks and reports show...
