HI,

I have logged onto the HSBC website to view my credit card statement. The site wants to open a PDF to show my statement but when I click on open, nothing happens. Help?

I have an iMac running OS X 10.7.5

You could just right-click the link and download the PDF. Then double-click to open in Preview.

There is no right mouse button on my mouse. When I click on the link to open the PDF nothing happens. Adobe Reader is installed. This is very annoying !

Hold the Control key down while you click = right-click.

There is a security setting that allows you to turn the open PDF feature on and off. Don't remember exactly where (I'm not in front of my Mac). It threw me for a loop as well.

EDIT: Now I remember. It's in the Safari preferences under the General tab. Be sure the box is checked at the bottom.

You don't say whether this has worked for you before.

I've found that some banks don't include the file extension (.pdf). It's hard to figure out why this is, but I've seen it and in those cases Preview won't open the file, because it doesn't understand that it's a PDF.

Try downloading and renaming.
