Help with permanent "Waiting" icon!

I was downloading some app (can't remember which one..) and I must have lost connection or something. The app never downloaded. Now it's just a grayed out icon that says Waiting... I can't delete it on the shaky menu and I can't delete it on itunes either. Does anyone have any idea what happened and how to fix it? thx

Sign out of the app store on your iPhone, reboot, and sign back in.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. But ive tried many many diff ways to do this, but this was the only solid way. Thanks.
