Hi, I am about to replace the Fusion Drive (128GB SSD + 1TB HDD) in my Late 2012 Mini with a larger 1TB SSD + the stock 1TB HDD in a NON FUSION configuration.
The steps I intent to take are listed below, can anybody with the correct expertise please review them and confirm the logic and/or suggest changes?

- Make a Time Machine backup as a failsafe option.
- install the new 1TB SSD externally (USB3) and format
- Make a bootable CCC clone of the Fusion Drive onto the new 1TB SSD
- Test the bootable clone
- Make a copy of the Recovery HD partition onto an external drive (I am not sure this is actually required at this stage)
- Uncouple the Fusion Drive into the two separate SSD and HDD
- Physically replace the internal 128GB SSD with the newly prepared 1TB SSD
- Boot

What do you think?
Am I missing anything?
Thank you.

Just in case anybody finds this thread looking for answers for the same issue, here is what I have done in the end:

- Updated my Time Machine backup as a last resort safety,
- Connected the Crucial SSD using a USB3 adaptor and formatted,
- CCC cloned my fusion drive onto the Crucial SSD (Including the recovery partition),
- Booted from the Crucial SSD (USB3 connected) to test functionality,
- Uncouple the Fusion Drive using Terminal (this also formats the two drives),
- Swap the Apple SSD with the Crucial SSD,
- Boot-up, all done.

One piece of advice. When you open up the Mini to swap the SSD, I found there is no need to unplug the Fan, nor the Wi-FI aerial. All you need to do is unscrew them and move them to one side.
