I bought a 3rd generation iPod off eBay. When I got it, the owner didn't restore the iPod, which is Windows formatted. Of course, I have a Mac. I plug it in using Firewire and it's recognized in iTunes but not in my Finder. I try to restore, but it can't because it's not showing up in the finder. Can someone please help me with this problem?

Thanks

EDIT: I managed to restore it using the iPod Utility app. Now it's the other way around. It shows up in my finder, but not in iTunes! Can someone help me please!

You should be able to restore through iTunes instead of having to use the Restore Utility. Simply click on "Restore" in the iTunes window. These iPods don't have to be in Disk mode.

I've done it a few times for mine, so don't worry. The last truly great iPod (classic).

That's what I've been trying to do. When I click on Restore in iTunes, it can't restore because it says the iPod can't be found, which makes sense if it's not showing up in my finder.

But if it isn't in disc mode, then it won't be in Finder.

You may have to try do download the iPod Updater from Apple's Support Site, or find a PC and enable Disk Mode.

I don't know how to fix this problem. Right now, the iPod needs to be updated to software 2.3, but I can't do it because it says the iPod can't be found, even though now it shows up on both my Finder and iTunes.
