So my last name starts with "Ger" and Siri keeps pronouncing it "Jer", like Germany, rather than "Gr" as in tiger. I have tried a bunch of different spellings in the phoenetic field to no avail.. Thoughts?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

It should have the phonetic spelling of "gur-" to produce the sound of your last name. Didn't have Siri try it, but as long as Siri follows all phonetic rules, it should work.

I did try removing the letter between g and r.... And thank you for the answer... Gur it is. Works perfectly... Now I feel a little foolish for not thinking of that first.

Awesome.

Any suggestions for a last name that starts with "Ge?"

Siri provinces it with a soft G, as in "Gee wiz, mister!" When, in all actuality, it should be a hard G, as in "Willie McGee."

Can not figure out the phonetics for the life of me. Any ideas?
